The Missing Accountability in Today’s Politics

April 23, 2026

In a time when clarity should reign supreme, I find myself questioning the integrity and responsibility of our mainstream media. Why, oh why, will they not simply call a lie a lie? When it comes to figures like Donald Trump or Kash Patel, we hear an undertone of hesitation in their reporting, as if calling out falsehoods directly is too risky.

This silence only encourages the dangerous narratives that those in power, or those seeking power, decide to propagate. Amidst this ongoing circus, here we stand, a nation grappling with disillusionment while the very guardrails that have protected our democracy for nearly 250 years seem to be skidding off the road.

Many of us have been drawn into the fervor of politics, captivated by grand gestures and rhetorical flourishes. But at the core of it all, there lies something dark—a regime that looks to reshape our country into something far from its original ideals, leaning heavily toward the influences of technocracy and, disturbingly, white supremacy.

For all his bluster, we have a so-called president who is enriching himself off the backs of hardworking Americans. Those who supported him are especially defrauded, left wondering if their trust was misplaced or, more recently, a cruel joke. There’s a gut-wrenching disconnect when you consider that our tax dollars are funding decisions that don’t represent the will of the people anymore, but rather the interests of a small, elite cadre.

And just when you think it can’t get any worse, his administration has chosen to wage war against Iran. Yes, Iran—far from perfect, yet a sovereign nation that deserves its autonomy. Where, one might ask, are the calls for accountability? Where are the political leaders willing to say, “Enough is enough, let's restore our principles”? Instead, we witness complicity within his political movement; a strange and worrisome allegiance that justifies his actions in the name of power.

It’s infuriating, and it should be for you too. To see the foundational principles of our democracy undermined without a hint of resistance from those who have sworn an oath to protect them is heartbreaking. Aren’t we better than this?

What we’re experiencing now is not just politics as usual; it feels like a slow dismantling of what once made our nation greater. It's time to speak out, stand firm, and take accountability into our own hands. Each of us has a voice—let us use it to demand truth and transparency.

Only then can we hope to steer our nation back towards honest governance, where the voices of the people are truly heard, and where we can ensure that our democracy represents the best of us—not the worst.

Let’s continue this conversation, because ignoring these unsettling realities only hands more power to those who would see our values eroded. How can we, together, advocate for a politics of accountability? —Let’s talk!
